Chapter 2 : Meet the Friends

Sensing that two of her friends were already alienating her, K felt hurt and pain. At that very moment Al treated her well and hoped that she in turn will fall for him as well. TG and I had to endure the uneasiness of having to abandon an innocent friend, we wanted things to return to what it used to be – when the four of us could just relax and hang out as friends. For this very reason, we kept on pushing and pushing Al to get it over with. To confess his true feelings for her and accept her decision may it be yes or no. To end it all once and for all. But the point is, he hesitated and my friends, this was how it would be for the next few months. Seems kind of gloomy doesn’t it? The way this story is going on. That’s exactly how the weather is in London. My theory is that perhaps the weather in London affects a lot of the people here. This would have been true, if they were the only people I paid attention to here. But that was not the case. You see, there were other stories going on at that time. Other people getting closer, other people bonding, other people having crushes and of course I was there to see it all unfold.

In came Who and Oyster. Two individuals that stayed in the same hall of residence, spent most of they’re time together and had all the reasons to be together, including the fact that their appearance matched each others. But it didn’t happen for apparent reasons. Wonder why? Before we go there, let me enlighten you with some basic information about them. Who is a nice guy, actually some of the friendliest guys I’ve come to know in London. He’s a regular gym visitor and perhaps it was his build that got her attracted in the first place. This is just a guess of course. Moving on to Oyster, she’s the type of person that was friendly in almost everyone’s eyes. For a girl her age, she’s tall and let me just make this honest and well, apparent I guess, comment being that her arms are bigger than some guys I know. In that sense they looked like they were made for each other. In the start of the term, whenever your see one of them, the other will always be nearby. Be it lectures, society events or just an outing with friends, I kept on seeing them together. And it wasn’t as if they didn’t enjoy each other’s company, they were actually laughing and having fun with each other. I mean, call me a busybody but this kind of situation usually leads to holding hands and hugs. After tonnes of prodding and all, they still gave the same answer, the disappointing one. “No, we’re not together. And we won’t get together.” Yea right! But it’s kind of a waste as well, they looked to nice together. Well, I wasn’t the only trying to get info about their relationship. Someone else was doing the same, someone that had her own story to tell. And believe me when I say that hers is much more interesting than any other stories that I’ve heard. Let’s just say that she was making most of the moves in this part of the story.

Introducing Blurry, the most special girl that I have the pleasure of meeting in London. She always has something to say about almost anything and with her high level of ignorance, she can make a lot of people laugh. It’s kind of hard to let you see what I’m writing about – but once you meet her, you’ll know. As I recall, our first meeting was in a statistics class on Friday. In that class, I was pretty impressed to find that a Malaysian was educating us. He had his own attitude and way of teaching, something I like in a teacher. His habit of ending class 20 minutes early was also a bonus. After his first class, all the Malaysians in that class gathered together to meet each other, all four of us may I add. There we were, me along with TG, Oyster and Blurry, getting to know each other a little better. To be quite honest from her appearance, I had the feeling that Blurry was an Indian or even a Malay girl. But to my surprise she was Chinese. 100 percent and not mixed at all. Amazingly she wasn’t shy when it came to meeting new people. She came up to us and started talking as if we’d knew each other for years. Very friendly and sociable indeed. With the ability to talk most of the time and her friendliness, you can easily see why I mentioned that she made the moves first. But on who? That was the question that needed an answer. Who was it that attracted this girl, one that had the quality to talk to any guy she wanted. I had to admit that it took me a while before realizing, but one week later it was confirm. She started to take an interest, in our statistic class teacher.

My life here, how I have been living like, how I have been restricted from doing so many other things... sometimes, I feel like a monk here.

A MONK! Though I have to admit that the orange overall looks pretty nice :) But that's beside the point, or rather... points :

A Monk has to refrain from eating meat and only consume vegetables.

I have to eat cheap food here! Can't eat as much as I want here or can't eat whatever I want here. I'm down to eating moderate amount of cheap food here T.T *sad* Since veggies are cheaper than meat, so I'm kinda like a monk also loh...

A Monk cannot smoke.

Me too la. *not complaining*

A Monk exercise practically daily (Shaolin KungFu).

Me too la. I also exercise daily (walking). *here no car liao*

A Monk has to abstain himself from girls and sexual temptations.

*SIGH* Me too T.T Seeing so many 'temptations' in clubs and have to be a monk there. *Potong* But nevermind, it's for a greater good. :)

A Monk's life isn't a luxurios life.

My student life here is like a beggar. Walau, everytime also need to think about saving money. (sobs sobs) Stupid big currency, make my heart pain everytime eat outside. Imagine RM 30 for a plate of fried rice. GG

Why I come to London again ah? Must be to lead a more spiritual life. I'm such a good boy now :P It's ok - I'll be patient, living this kind of life will be rewarded. Come June 9th - everything I did will be worth it. :) *Looking forward to it*

A story about what has been going on in London...

Writer's Note : Not all of the content of this story is true. Some are made up to distort the truth and protect other people's privacy.

Chapter 1 : He was a boy, she was a girl

A new term mark a new beginning. A start to the academic year of 06/07. Many have arrived here; some knowing exactly what to do and what to expect while others are just green horns looking for new exposure. My plane reached London at precisely 2 something. Accurate timing, don’t you agree? I tend to keep track of time very well. After exiting the airport, my future roommate and I headed off to our accommodation, our refuge and home for the next 9 months. Settling down took a few days due to the jet lag. But I was up and ready to explore this new environment. Little did I know that this year was going to be a year to remember forever. Many things would happen and change many relationships. Everyday – something would happen and not one day is lived without someone getting drunk/complaining bout relationship/getting close to someone else. And so it begins – a story of Malaysian students in the London School of Economics through my eyes.

A few weeks after arrival, Al seemed to take notice of a certain girl. At first glance, she had everything that any ordinary guy would want of a girl. Her body was slim, her complexion was clear and her smile would radiate joy into anyone’s heart. She was friendly, kind and more than willing to take him for a tour around London. No charge included at all! Al was definitely fortunate to have met her, the girl named K. But this guy, Al, wasn’t a normal person. His taste in girls was different from what I know most guys would want. He liked a girl with a little more meat, plum in other words. She had to be a Chinese from Malaysia, which may I add that she is but she doesn’t look the part at all. Furthermore she had to be able to converse in Mandarin well. K spoke Cantonese to her parents meaning only that they do not share the same strong language, except of course for English. The language that I can understand that best – and so I’m able to tell the tale between them very well.

With so many differences, he still had a crush on her. What was it about her that attracted him so much? Was it her smile whenever he treat her nicely? Or was it her presence that made everyday as bright as the shining sun? Who knows, all I know is that he’d fallen for her, and he was bound to fall even deeper in. It started off as just a joke that we would pass around to each other. Ah, yes, I must introduce the three ‘brothers’ at this point. Al, Tall Guy and me were getting pretty close and so hence the term brothers among us. We were always joking about Al liking K at the start. Well, needless to say me and Tall Guy moved out of the way whenever the chance happened to prance along. Take for example, when we were walking down the street back to our homes, we would always be walking either ahead or at the back just to give Al and K some privacy. Some alone time to chat and bond even closer. Little that we know, this little act of ours was going to cause an even greater problem in the near future.
